In the town of Agedabia, Libya, my grandfather wrote
Nellie and Robin stand out as a great hope for me and am willing to sacrifice all for them.
It’s hard for someone who has grown up in Australia, so far removed from the war, to understand just how difficult and troubling those times were. It’s easy, however, to feel very privileged and humble to have had men like this stand up and defend their country so that we get to enjoy life as we do today.
I don’t remember that much of my grandfather. We moved away from England when I was 6, and I only saw him a few times after that. I feel like I hardly knew him, but I miss him a lot.
Who said what?
