The grass is always greener

October 6, 2007

Horse next doorI mowed the chook pen today, and took a couple of wheelbarrows of grass clippings over to the other side of the yard, behind the dog pen. I planned to rake them out so they’ll dry off and blow away, but didn’t get around to it before we went shopping. When we got back one of the horses from next door had jumped the fence (and I mean that quite literally; we saw the hoof marks where he landed) and started helping himself to some nice fresh grass clippings.

The folks from next door came over to help round him up and get him back over the fence. When it was all over I helped tidy up the fence, because it was looking pretty daggy.

Don’t worry. It was unlikely to cause founder. Although it was spring the grass wasn’t particularly green or lush. We are still in the midst of a drought.

Grass clippings can cause founder though, I hope he didn’t get it! That story is very funny! =D

Andrew, I had to look up a couple of words you used in your post. “chook” and “daggy”. I’ve never heard of those before. I’ve learned something new today.
    Thanks -Scott

The grass must have just been too tempting for him.
