Today was the annual highland parade in Maryborough. I took The Kid down to see it, and she actually got to lead one of the bands down the street. Photos on SmugMug.

As well as the parade there’s a day of highland games and other events in Princes Park. The focus is very much on highland stuff (caber toss, etc) but there’s a few other things on too, such as the Maryborough Gift footrace ($10K of prize money), a fair, and the fireworks tonight.

Trivia of note: The Maryborough Highland games was first staged in 1857, and is the longest continually run sporting event in Australia.
