This is getting ridiculous

January 3, 2009 Comments off

Check this out:

A 21-year-old man has had his car impounded for the third time – and may lost it permanently – after he was caught speeding in Melbourne’s east.

Police intercepted the man’s car doing 176kmh in an 80kmh zone on the Princes Highway at Clayton about 12.30am this morning.

The driver from Clayton will be charged on summons with dangerous driving and speeding offences and he faces the possibility of having his car impounded permanently.

Why do we have to share the road with morons like this? Here’s how we deal with this once I come to power: Crush this idiot’s car and put the footage put up on YouTube, and that way, when he gets out of jail in 2 years time, he can search for it and watch it. He also loses his licence to drive for 20 years.

image Another rule I’ll bring in is that anyone caught driving without a licence where the reason they’re unlicensed is that they’ve lost it due to dangerous behaviour is automatically given 5 years jail.

Stuff you.

You drive like a dick, lose your licence, and then keep driving, and I’m taking you off the road for a long, long time.

You have no right to live with the rest of us.

Also:

Police also caught a P-plater speeding at 170kmh on the Hume Freeway, near the northern Victorian town of Benalla, on Friday.

This was during a police crackdown on holiday drivers using the freeway, which is the main road between Melbourne and Sydney.

Police did not impound his car because it was a hire vehicle.

Why not impound it? Let this loser explain to the hire company why the car hasn’t been returned on time. Let the hire company hit him hard in the wallet. Let his name get added to a list of people that car hire companies refuse to deal with.

image Sorry, but this is just getting too stupid. We need to crack down really hard on this kind of idiotic behaviour. 30km/hr over the limit has always been the point of license loss, and that’s fine. 50km/hr over the limit should be the point of ‘remanded in custody for a court hearing at a later date‘ that leads to a mandatory 9 months jail time.

image Minor speeding offences where you’re not far over the limit are no problem. But drive at 96km/hr over the limit and you’re going to The Big House. You get to lose your job, and your house, and your family, and maybe then you’ll understand — because when you lose control of your vehicle, as a 21 year old doing 176 in an 80 zone surely will — the loss of a few material possessions will seem trivial in comparison to the kind of carnage you’ll cause then.

image It just makes me so furious that these kind of idiots are on the road. When I was young and my mates and I would go out driving we did it to learn how to drive — and it was on slower, twisting roads in the middle of nowhere. Lose control and you ding your car, not innocent people. And it was all about driving a car properly: learning how to smoothly transfer weight, balance the throttle, double-clutch, and control the car. It was everything but pressing the the throttle harder. That’s not driving; that’s just dumb. No skill driving quickly in a straight line.

Rant over.
