Mondegreen of the day

Gocky was singing along to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Apparently it contains the following lyrics:

Living inside for an old cup of tea…

Happy Jacks

July 10, 2009 1 comment

Today was the last day of school holidays (if you don’t count the weekend) so we took the kids to Happy Jacks, one of the indoor play centres in Ballarat. They had a ball. I didn’t get any pictures of Adelaide because she was too busy running around, but Eloise spent most of her time in the toddler’s area so Lisa and I were able to capture a few shots.

A lovely study of Eloise that Lisa took

Stupid, stupid newbie mistake

July 9, 2009 1 comment

I’m kicking myself for making such a stupid newbie mistake tonight. Had the camera at Mum and Dad’s dinner table and I couldn’t work out why every shot was way, way overexposed. Did nothing out of the ordinary. It was only when I got the images back into the laptop and saw how grainy they were that I realised I was still set on ISO1600 from some deliberately grainy shots I was playing with a few days ago. Dang.

Managed to salvage two shots. Neither are particularly good.

Today Tonight mobile phone intercept lies

July 9, 2009 Comments off

image I’m astounded that Today Tonight (one of the local low-rent trashy “current affairs” programs) can turn blatant lies into a story about how mobile phones can be intercepted. I happen to know a fair bit about how mobile phone intercept works (as noted a few weeks ago) and the story they broadcast tonight was full of crap. I don’t even know where to start. Everything they spoke about was pure rubbish.

Market

July 6, 2009 1 comment

We wanted to save a bit of money on food this week so we took a trip down to the Queen Vic market early Saturday morning. It’s been a long, long time since we’ve been shopping there. The range of produce is much bigger than the local supermarkets, and it’s definitely much better value for money. The quality was far better too.

This was Adelaide’s first trip to the market and she really enjoyed it. There’s lots of colour and noise which I think both kids found fascinating, but Adelaide especially liked.

I took the camera and fired off a few shots, but given that the lighting is a little dodgy I wasn’t really happy with any of them. This shot of Eloise was the only one I really liked.

I think I can just about live with this shot too:
