Home made sausage rolls
Last night’s dinner was home made sausage rolls. Little Girl helped Lisa with them. We found that last season’s coriander has self-seeded in the herb garden and is regrowing, so the girls seasoned the pork mince with coriander and ginger. We ate them with sweet chilli sauce. For some reason there’s not a trace of them left at all.
Baking day
Lisa and the kids made some cupcakes today. Adelaide did a great job of getting the cake mix into the pans, as you’d expect.
Eloise didn’t do quite as well.
Adelaide lent her some moral support in the form of sisterly love, but I’m not entirely sure it helped.
She kept trying though.
In the end, she gave up and just starting eating it.
When there wasn’t any left in the bowl she started eating what had fallen onto the table.
Cooking
I don’t cook much (not as much as I should) but for some reason I ended up cooking dinner both yesterday and today. Last night I made a quick chicken curry – not particularly well – but it was edible enough. Nowhere near as good as the stuff Lisa and I used to make before we had kids, but in those days you could afford to spend 4 hours grinding and roasting spices and carefully crafting something special. These days we’re on a deadline.
Tonight I threw together some pasta. The sauce had some meat in it, but instead of using the default choice of mince I bought a cheap piece of rump and cut it up really finely. The sauce had garlic, onion, bacon, tomato, the finely chopped rump, mushrooms, corn, kidney beans, chick peas and a touch of ground pepper. It was actually pretty nice.
