Gooooooooooooooooooooal!
Ninety seconds to go, Big Girl’s soccer team was down 2 1. She netted her first ever goal to level the score.

Big Girl started soccer training today. She’s in the under 9’s, playing for “Spurs”.
In the under 9’s they do 10-15 minutes of basic skills work and then have a short game with two 10 minute halves. They don’t keep score, and they’re a little bit relaxed about the ball going out of play.
The kids have a great time, of course. Big Girl loved it. She’s playing soccer next Tuesday in the Lighting Premiership (an inter-school competition) and we spend a fair bit of time in the back yard kicking the soccer ball around.
She’s completely soccer mad right now, although we do need to teach her some of the basic rules. Her first attempt at goal hit the post, which was good, because an own goal wouldn’t have been a glorious start to her career. For her first ever game she did very well though; a few throw-ins and a few corner kicks.
Last weekend we took Sam and Ollie to Castlemaine so we could be part of the RSPCA’s annual Million Paws Walk. RSPCA run it as a fundraiser. We went so we could walk the dogs through the botanical gardens, catch up with Michelle and Les, and enjoy a beautiful Autumn day.
Lisa needed to spend some time doing a few things around the house today so I took the kids out for the afternoon. We went to the local play gym and then walked around the ‘res. There’s actually a pretty decent amount of water in it right now.
This is national alpaca week. We visited the Millduck Alpaca Stud again today — the place we bought Malcolm and Maverick from. We bought another Alpaca named Mozart. He’ll be ready to come over to us sometime around September.
We took Big Girl’s friend J with us too. Not sure how much experience he’s had around Alpacas, but he certainly had fun.
Prue Walduck from the Millduck Alpaca Stud talking to the kids about some of the Alpacas and the Cria (baby Alpacas).
As well as looking at Alpacas the kids goofed around and did what kids should do on a farm.
Our big girl loved Mozart.
My back is almost back to normal now, and I’ve been quite mobile today. It hasn’t really given me any trouble at all. I took the kids out for a few hours this afternoon; we went for a walk around the Goldfields Reservoir, rolled over to the playground at Lake Victoria and then finished up with a walk around the lake.
They probably walked 3km all up, plus a good 30 minutes on the playground.
As big girl pointed out, that’s a good thing, because she’ll have no trouble getting to sleep before the Easter bunny arrives tonight with chocolate eggs.
You’d almost think I planned it that way.
There’s a few more photos up on SmugMug; you know where to look.
Lisa has wanted to organise a photowalk for a while now, and she’s decided that this Saturday is as good a time as any. The weather should be good in the morning, and the flower show is on this weekend, so there should be a bunch of stuff to shoot.
Meet at the Railway Station in Maryborough at 10am.
Any camera will do, whether it’s a 1930 vintage film camera or a Nikon D3X with 37 different lenses. As far as camera gear goes, a photowalk is a judgement free zone.
Bring sensible walking shoes, a bottle of water or two and a desire to spend a few hours with fellow photographers taking photos of our town.
Everyone/anyone welcome.
I saw this on the eternally wonderful Boing Boing. Didn’t quite see where it was going, then laughed so hard I can’t actually see the screen. Gold.
Getting ready for today’s trip to the aquarium.
Little sister was there too, to see Adelaide off. I think she was a bit anxious; she didn’t really want her to go. And when it was time to get on the school bus, she had a tantrum because she wanted to get on the bus too.
Who said what?
