As part the rejuvenation of the station precinct in Maryborough the council have built a wonderful playground. It opened at 4pm yesterday with a pretty big celebration and was absolutely packed.
The kids went to the opening, of course. Big Girl stood right next to the mayor as he cut the ribbon and was one of the first to go in. We went back today so they could have some more fun when it was a little less crowded. I took the camera today as well.

It’s very well designed. The council have spent a six figure sum on building it, and it’s taken the best part of 3 months (there were some delays because of the rain). The whole area has been landscaped really well, and it’s surrounded by fence with a single gate. It includes lots of undercover seating for parents and is definitely the highlight of the whole precinct area. It’s next to a large stage and amphitheatre area that will host performing arts.

After school yesterday Eve took big girl to a Disney themed dance. They looked great!

The girls wanted to celebrate Halloween yesterday, so they made up a batch of gingerbread cookies and decorated them appropriately.

This morning, Big Girl got an award at school too – the weekly virtue was Truthfulness, and she was awarded it.

We’ve had a very, very busy weekend. Yesterday we spent a bunch of time in the garden while Big Girl went to a couple of birthday parties, and today we had three different events: a girl guide flag raising ceremony, a fete to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the local kindergarten, and Big Girl had her first singing workshop.
One of the things that the girl guides did at their flag raising ceremony was to renew their promise.
At the fete, the kids had a go in the slime bucket. Little one wasn’t as convinced it was as much fun as Big Girl.

Big Girl had to make a kite for school. She decided on the design and helped cut out a lot of the pieces. She then helped Lisa sew them on. She decorated it with coloured pens. We haven’t flown it yet, but I’m sure it will be fine.

Ninety seconds to go, Big Girl’s soccer team was down 2 1. She netted her first ever goal to level the score.

Big Girl took this beautiful photo of Tambo, her favourite cat. She’s very affectionate and loves Big Girl; at night she mews until she’s allowed to go into Big Girl’s room and sleep on her bed.

Big Girl started soccer training today. She’s in the under 9’s, playing for “Spurs”.
In the under 9’s they do 10-15 minutes of basic skills work and then have a short game with two 10 minute halves. They don’t keep score, and they’re a little bit relaxed about the ball going out of play.
The kids have a great time, of course. Big Girl loved it. She’s playing soccer next Tuesday in the Lighting Premiership (an inter-school competition) and we spend a fair bit of time in the back yard kicking the soccer ball around.
She’s completely soccer mad right now, although we do need to teach her some of the basic rules. Her first attempt at goal hit the post, which was good, because an own goal wouldn’t have been a glorious start to her career. For her first ever game she did very well though; a few throw-ins and a few corner kicks.

We had dinner at a friend’s tonight to celebrate their youngest boy’s birthday. He was born 2 weeks after our little one.

Who said what?
